Toles Temple & Wright recently launched The Roman Resource, a hub for potential Romans to learn more about our town. The centerpiece is an interactive map that lets people explore Rome and Floyd County, and view homes for sale all at the same time.
TTW partnered with Romega Digital to build the technology needed to display properties and points of interest. We built some behind-the-scenes software to store information about local homes for sale, including their addresses so we could plot them on the map automatically. Visitors can toggle these properties on and off by selecting filters for area or price range. Clicking on a property icon brings up a photo, address, price, and link to view more.
In addition to properties, the map shows points of interest all around town. You can see where to golf, play tennis, go shopping or find things to do. The map also includes locations of local colleges, healthcare facilities, and large employers. Users can click on an icon to see more information about that item, including address, description, and a link to its website.
These points of interest are loaded into the map via a JSON feed that lets us specify not just the address, but also a location’s latitude and longitude. This gives us the opportunity to be very specific about where each icon displays on the map.
“The ability to filter by community and price point, as well as see points of interest around locations, is incredibly valuable and not something that has been accomplished before. I’m proud of my team who put so much work in to make it happen.”
– Braden Keith, CEO
Other sections of the Roman Resource include videos about Rome, links to news articles, and a calendar of events maintained by Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism.
We love our town and we were happy to help build a way to showcase it to potential new Romans. Already, it’s been so well received by our community, and we can’t wait to see how it helps Rome grow!
Looking for a new and interesting way to display data for your clients? No matter how big your idea may be, we would love the challenge. Let’s get started.
