Different Voices: Walt Disney’s Magical Voice

In this series titled Different Business Voices, I am taking a look at how companies use their voice to have effective marketing. Remember that a business voice is the tone, approach and medium expressed to the consumers.

The magical world of Disney has evolved into a monumental media company. Most children remember watching all things Disney growing up. We are going to explore how and why they became that lovable company.

Who is the Target Audience?

Disney is primarily aimed at children and their families since the parents buy the items. Also, the company aims for the child in every adult’s heart. The family-friendly theme is continuing across practically all of the company’s ventures.

What is the Mission Statement?

“The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to be one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, services and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world.”

Disney does better than most in crafting an exhilarating experience for all consumers. They do this in a manifold of ways.

How Do They Produce?

The tone of The Walt Disney Company is enchanting. Their approach brings you into that pure magic. Countless mediums are executed to perfection to express their voice through creative ways. Listed below are some of those.

The arguably most popular medium is their movies. Everyone has their favorite Disney films. Mine are probably The Incredibles (2004), Aladdin (1992), Peter Pan (1953) and Mulan (1998) although there are so many more fantastic ones. The company has produced and developed more than 150 different films. Every movie attempts to submerge you into the experience of wonder. No matter what happens during the movie, all endings have a similar theme. Even more gritty films like the live-action Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-2017) films follow the protocol of enchantment and wonder.

Another thing is every child who has been to any of Disney’s amusement parks will remember that forever. Speaking from personal experience, seeing the castle as you enter Disney World leaves a lasting impression. All of the different movie characters, themed restaurants and rides are made to give children the time of their lives.

The media giant does something other companies have tried to duplicate for years. You are completely immersed in the world once you enter. The worries of social life take a back seat when you are there. The sense of nostalgia Disney creates can be a welcome relief from the stresses of life. Their voice is influential in the role to achieve this goal. All park workers act a certain way, and the atmosphere or approach is set up to make you feel at ease. Even their toy stores at the mall follow this code.

The Results

Disney started as a small company in 1923 and has risen to the single largest media entity to ever exist. Their model for success has been studied across the nation and the world. Walt Disney was a man with lofty dreams. Little did he know how much these dreams would inspire others even to this day.
