A new look for Downtown Rome

Downtown Rome is a fun, beautiful place and deserves a website to match. We recently worked with the Office of Downtown Development to revamp the downtown website and bring more local flavor to its online presence.

There were several requirements for the new site, including the ability to speak to different audiences. The site needed to be useful for local residents who turn to it for information about parking, grant programs, and downtown rules. It also needed to serve as a guide to the downtown area for visitors. And everyone wants to know about events going on downtown!

We worked with several members of the DDA staff to plan a content map that would speak to those different users. This was a collaborative process that included multiple conversations, phone calls, and shared Dropbox folders to get it just right. Ultimately, we settled on a navigation structure that divided the content into broad categories like Explore Downtown, Parking, and Events, while providing an easy way to drill down from there.

Do you need a website that reflects the unique character of your business or organization? We can do that! Get in touch to see how we can help you.

During this time, our friends at V3 developed a new logo for Downtown Rome, and our designers used the new logo design as a jumping-off point for the site design. Rome is a charming town, so each page features eye-catching photography. The rest of the site design is fairly simple, to allow the content to shine.

Visitors can see details for restaurants, shops, attractions, and hotels, so they can easily find what Downtown Rome has to offer. These listings are effortless for downtown staff to manage and keep up to date, with a simple interface to add and edit items that are formatted automatically for the website.

That’s not the only easy way for staff to keep the site fresh. There’s a blog section that automatically displays recent articles on the home page, and the Downtown Rome Instagram account feeds into the site as well. Plus, the calendar on the site is maintained by the Greater Rome Convention & Visitors Bureau and is synced to the Downtown Rome website with their permission.

Romega Digital is proud to be a downtown Rome business, and we really enjoyed working with Amanda, Becky, and Megan at the Office of Downtown Development to launch the new site. They were great collaborators and worked hard to make sure the site was as good as it could be!

The process with creating our website with Romega Digital was extremely easy. We started sending the websites we liked and wanted to mimic and just talked with [them] on how we wanted to modernize the website and have it reflect the vibrant downtown. There was a lot of communication involved and even now with the website implemented Sarah is still involved with us in any way needed.
